Qatar Airways Claims Top Honors in Airline Excellence Awards, Wins Airline of the Year 2024

AirlineRatings.com, the exclusive website for safety and product ratings, has declared Qatar Airways as its Airline of the Year for 2024.

Qatar Airways edged out former champions including Air New Zealand, Korean Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, and Emirates to clinch the top position.

AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas said: “In our objective analysis Qatar Airways came out number one in many key areas although it was a very close scoring for the top ten.”

“The passenger reviews however scored Qatar Airways ahead of all airlines and its consistency and high standard of service delivery came through in the feedback,” said Mr Thomas.

The AirlineRatings.com Airline Excellence Awards are determined by a combination of rigorous safety and governmental reviews, alongside 12 critical criteria: fleet age, passenger feedback, profitability, safety and product ratings, innovation, and future fleet orders.

The Top 25 premium airlines include Qatar Airways, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, Air New Zealand, and Emirates, among others.

Qatar Airways continued its dominance by winning Best Business Class for the fifth consecutive year, as well as Best Catering. Meanwhile, Air New Zealand secured Best Economy Class.

Other notable winners included Singapore Airlines for Best First Class, Virgin Australia for Best Cabin Crew, Emirates for Best In-Flight Entertainment and Best Premium Economy, and Qantas for Best Lounges. Etihad Airways was recognized as the Best Environmental Airline for the third consecutive year.

For excellence in long-haul travel, the awards recognized Qatar Airways (Middle East), Korean Air (North Asia), Air France (Europe), Air Canada (North America), and others in various regions.

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines was named Best Regional Airline.

In the low-cost sector, AirlineRatings.com awarded top honors to airlines such as Southwest (Americas), Fly Dubai (Middle East), and AirAsia Group (Asia).

Vietjet was honored with two awards: Best Ultra Low-Cost Airline and Best Low-Cost Airline Onboard Hospitality.

The site also listed its Top 25 Best Low-Cost Airlines, featuring carriers like AirAsia Group, Ryanair, and WizzAir.
