Kaziranga National Park reopens, drawing 28,980 visitors in October and boosting Assam’s tourism season with a vibrant start after the monsoon closure.

Kaziranga National Park Welcomes Visitors with Vibrant Reopening

Kaziranga National Park, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its extensive biodiversity, reopened recently, drawing an impressive 28,980 visitors. This surge has already generated revenue amounting to Rs. 65,37,515. Field Director Sonali Ghosh highlighted that the vast majority were domestic travelers, with 28,401 Indian visitors and 579 international guests contributing to this influx.

Closed since May due to monsoon-related flooding, which tragically claimed nearly 200 animal lives, the park now looks forward to a prosperous tourism season. With its captivating landscapes, Kaziranga offers nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers an opportunity to immerse themselves in its rich array of flora and fauna.

A Record-Breaking Previous Season

In the last tourism season (2023-24), Kaziranga reached unprecedented heights, welcoming 3,27,493 visitors, including 13,919 international guests, and achieving a record revenue of Rs. 8,81,84,161—the highest since the park’s inception. This season, Kaziranga aims to continue this positive trend, further elevating Assam’s tourism profile.

A Premier Destination for Wildlife Lovers

As Kaziranga reopens, it attracts visitors eager to experience its distinct ecosystem, which houses the largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses globally, along with tigers, elephants, and numerous other species. Park authorities are prioritizing visitor safety and sustainability, ensuring a balanced experience for both domestic and international tourists keen to observe Kaziranga’s wildlife in their natural surroundings.

This reopening aligns seamlessly with Assam’s broader ambitions to position the state as a top eco-tourism destination. Kaziranga’s dedicated staff is committed to preserving the park’s biodiversity and offering a secure, enriching adventure for all its visitors, underscoring Assam’s commitment to sustainable tourism growth.
