Egypt Unveils LE50 Billion Boost To Transform Tourism Industry And Fuel Growth

Egypt launches a LE50 billion initiative to boost tourism, offering financial support to expand hotels in major destinations and drive industry growth.

Egypt has launched a transformative initiative aimed at reinvigorating its tourism sector with substantial support of LE50 billion. Spearheaded by the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities and Finance, this program provides financial backing to tourism companies, particularly those seeking to expand hotel accommodations in key tourist hubs including popular destinations like Luxor, Aswan, Cairo’s metropolitan area, the Red Sea region, and South Sinai.

Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy highlighted that the initiative is designed to boost investment in the tourism industry, enabling hotels and associated businesses to prepare for a projected rise in visitors. Interested companies have a one-year window to apply for financial support, with funding capped at LE1 billion for single entities and LE2 billion for affiliated businesses. This financing comes with an appealing decreasing interest rate of 12 percent, a 16-month period for withdrawals, and a licensing completion deadline set for June 2026.

So far, 96 applications have successfully met the requirements for participation, demonstrating significant interest across the sector.

Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk underscored the government’s dedication to advancing the tourism sector as a pillar of Egypt’s economic strategy. To qualify for the program, participating companies are required to convert 40 percent of their income into foreign currency, which will be held by the supporting banks to strengthen Egypt’s foreign reserves.

This initiative seeks to enhance cash flow, stimulate private sector growth, and position Egypt as a premier destination for global travelers.
