Azerbaijan is gearing up to participate in the ITB Berlin 2024 international tourism exhibition in Germany from March 5-7, as reported by news media. The State Tourism Agency has initiated preparations for this significant event, hosted at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, with an anticipated attendance of 24,000 in 2024, spread across four stages featuring 17 thematic tracks.
The ITB, also known as the Internationale Tourismus Börse, annually hosts around 10,000 exhibitors from over 180 countries and regions. Cities, tour operators, booking system developers, airlines, hotels, and various tourism-related businesses showcase their services, making ITB a global hub for inspiration and networking.
Established in 1966, the ITB Berlin has evolved into a resounding success, attracting 180,000 visitors and significantly influencing global travel experiences. Azerbaijan’s active participation in such international events aligns with the country’s substantial progress in tourism recovery and development. Last year, Azerbaijan welcomed over 1,000,602 guests, marking a twofold increase compared to the previous period.
The positive trend of increasing incoming tourists annually indicates promising prospects, with the goal of reaching 4 million tourists visiting Azerbaijan by 2026. Before the pandemic, the record tourist flow was 3.7 million, making the intended target both realistic and achievable. If the set goals are met, total tourism revenues in 2026 are projected to increase fourfold compared to 2021, potentially reaching 11.2 billion AZN.
