Sharjah-based low-cost airline Air Arabia has announced significant expansions across the Middle East and beyond, introducing new routes that will strengthen regional connectivity and meet the rising demand for affordable travel. This expansion marks another milestone in supporting both tourism and business travel, underscoring Air Arabia’s role in enhancing access and affordability within the region.
Revival of Sharjah to Yanbu Route
Starting November 28, 2024, Air Arabia will resume its direct flights between Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) and Yanbu’s Prince Abdul Mohsin Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (YNB) in Saudi Arabia. Operating twice weekly, this service highlights Air Arabia’s commitment to reinforcing its footprint in the Kingdom. With a total of 12 routes connecting cities like Riyadh, Jeddah, and Medina, the airline continues to support Saudi Arabia’s thriving tourism sector, a vital part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative.
Expanding Reach to Russia and the Maldives
Beyond Saudi Arabia, Air Arabia has expanded its international network with two notable routes. Starting December 27, 2024, Abu Dhabi will be connected to Yekaterinburg, Russia, through a twice-weekly direct service, fostering deeper tourism and business exchanges between the UAE and Russia. Additionally, as of October 27, 2024, travelers can fly directly from Sharjah to Malé in the Maldives, a daily route that simplifies access to the Maldives’ stunning beaches and resorts, enhancing Air Arabia’s appeal to leisure travelers.
Strengthening Ras Al Khaimah’s Connections
Air Arabia has also invested in expanding its Ras Al Khaimah operations, adding new routes and resuming popular services. Starting December 15, 2024, direct flights will connect Ras Al Khaimah and Jeddah three times a week, providing more flexibility for UAE-Saudi travelers. Additionally, a new route will link Ras Al Khaimah to Moscow Domodedovo International Airport beginning December 27, 2024, further broadening access for both leisure and business travelers.
Introducing Home Check-In for Abu Dhabi Passengers
To streamline the travel process, Air Arabia has introduced an innovative home check-in service in partnership with Morafiq, a specialized airport services provider. Passengers flying from Abu Dhabi can now check in, have their luggage collected, and receive boarding passes from their homes, ensuring a seamless experience. This service, bookable via the Morafiq app or Air Arabia’s website, caters to travelers with tight schedules or families, allowing them to proceed directly to security upon arriving at the airport.
